Historical Perspective Map Activity

Map Directions ► With your group, you will create a map of the world out of butcher paper. The orange piece is your background (i.e. the water), and the white paper will be the continents. ► Tear out the shape of the continents – label them. ► The only materials you may use are tape, butcher paper, a pen or pencil, your hands, and your brains! ► Next draw in and label as many countries, capitals, and cities as possible. Don’t forget to label major bodies of water too! ► The best map will be chosen for a prize!

Warm-up ► What does it mean to have an American perspective of the world?

Label the World Map ► Label all 7 continents and 5 oceans ► Label the following seas (Mediterranean, Red Sea, and Black Sea) ► Label ALL countries, except in Africa. Only label the following African Countries – Uganda, Sudan, Congo, Egypt, South Africa) ► Outline the region known as The Middle East.
