Sandy Soil and Water When sandy soil is mixed with water, it does not soak up a lot of the water. Most of the water will float to the top and the sand to the bottom.

Sandy Soil vs. Clay Soil Sandy Soil is white and Clay Soil is redish brown. Sandy Soil has different particles that you can see and Clay Soil has particles stuck together. Sandy Soil you can separate and Clay Soil you cannot. Sandy Soil feels soft and Clay Soil is sticky.
