What is bullying?  Unwanted, aggressive behavior among school aged children.  Making threats, spreading rumors, attacking someone physically or verbally  Often repeated  The most common type of bullying for students is Cyber Bullying.

Three Types of Bullying  Visual Bullying Visual Bullying  Social Bullying Social Bullying  Physical Bullying Physical Bullying

Student’s Roles in Preventing Bullying  Know that you are not alone.  Know that it is NOT your fault.  Ignore the bully.  Walk away.  Stay positive and confident.  Stay close to people who care about you.  Ask for help.  Use visualization.

Teacher’s Roles in Preventing Bullying  Set a positive environment.  Know and understand the anti-bullying policy.  Talk about the policy with the students.  Set rules and policies to help set boundaries.  Offer books on bullying for the students.  Respond when bullying happens.

Parent’s Roles in Preventing Bullying  Understand what bullying means.  Understand the bullying policy.  Discuss how bullying can be prevented.  Set a positive environment and example.  Set boundaries at home.  Discuss how bullying can effect a person mentally and physically.

Manila Bullying Policy Respect for the dignity of others is a cornerstone of civil society. Bullying creates an atmosphere of fear and intimidation, robs a person of his/her dignity, detracts from the safe environment necessary to promote student learning, and will not be tolerated by the Board of Directors. Students who bully another person shall be held accountable for their actions whether it occurs on school equipment or property; off school property at a school sponsored or approved function, activity, or event; or going to or from school or a school activity, in school vehicles on school buses and at designated scheduled bus stops. A school principal or his or her designee who receives a credible report or complaint of bullying shall promptly investigate the complaint or report and make a record of the investigation and any action taken as a result of the investigation.

Social Bullying  Hurting someone’s reputation or relationship  Leaving someone out on purpose  Telling other children not to be friends with someone  Spreading rumors about someone  Embarrassing someone in public

Physical Bullying  Physical bullying involves hurting a person’s body or possessions.  Hitting/kicking/pinching  Spitting  Tripping/pushing  Taking or breaking someone’s things  Making mean or rude hand gestures
