Literacy Assignment PowerPoint Presentation

The International Theatre and Literacy Project The International Theatre and Literacy Project use theatre as a means of social and educational uplift for children and teen-agers struggling with the challenges of poverty, crime, violence and inequality in developing countries throughout the world. ITLP conducts theatre workshops to teach English, develop independent thinking, self-empowerment and gender equity. We strive to help young people advance their educational and employment opportunities and nurture their voices as leaders to enable growth, change and community development.

The Creative Arts Team The Creative Arts Team (CAT) at The City University of New York uses the power of drama to inspire youth to learn more. Over the past three years, CAT has worked in nearly 1,000 classrooms and communities in the five boroughs of NYC. Our students reflect the City’s economic, ethnic, and cultural diversity. Over our 38 years of existence, we have worked with more than a million youth. Character, collaboration, story, and the dynamic relationship between actor and audience – the key components of drama – form the basis of CAT’s unique approach. In schools and communities throughout New York City, CAT’s professional Actor- Teachers combine and recombine these elements to create one-of- a-kind interactive learning experiences for young people and adult populations. Decades of assessments validate our pioneering approach and methodology.

Theatre for a New Audience Theatre for a New Audience provides a challenging and rigorous educational experience designed to support and advance students’ learning in both English Language Arts and Theatre. We offer the largest in- depth programs in the New York City Public Schools to introduce Shakespeare and other classics. Begun in 1984, our programs have served over 126,000 students, ages 9 through 18, in New York City Public Schools city-wide.

Roundabout Theatre PAGE TO STAGE is a residency program that uses theatre to teach literacy and includes classroom visits by a teaching artist to engage students in themes from two Roundabout productions.
