STICHTING COLLECTIEF AGRARISCH NATUURBEHEER IN SHORT January 1st 2016: start of new system. Our expectations? Less overhead costs. And therefore: More means for nature and landscape practices. Leading towards: Better results for biodiversity.

STICHTING COLLECTIEF AGRARISCH NATUURBEHEER WHAT HAVE WE DONE? SO FAR 40 groups of farmers established, representing about 10,000 farmers. 40 groups certified. ICT-facility developed, ready for targeted efficiënt control.

BoerenNatuur.nl: A new association: BoerenNatuur.nl (Farmers Nature)  A follow-up of Scan Founded by all 40 collectives Association means: being responsible together farmers, 40 collectives. 12 provincial representatives together form the national board President and professional staff in Utrecht Financed by collectives

Tasks: Contact with national and regional government authorities Knowledge development Data management Management en development of ICT-facility Nature and landscape management packages Communication Advocacy, fiscal advocacy Strategy development Internal evaluation Accomplishing projects Etc.

STICHTING COLLECTIEF AGRARISCH NATUURBEHEER HOW TO… FACILITATE SELF-SUFFICIENT BOTTOM-UP INITIATIVES? Cooperation between farmers is not uncommon. Primairy responsibility for development and execution of landscape and nature management plans. Balance between efficiency, transparancy and simplification versus delegation of power and control. Keywords: trust and proportionality. In close cooperation with existing farmers’ organisations like LTO.

STICHTING COLLECTIEF AGRARISCH NATUURBEHEER HOW TO… STRENGTHEN AND ENABLE THE GROUPS OF FARMERS? Assistance in order to: Develop ambitieus, coherent and sound area management plans. Secure support of all relevant local stakeholders. Be coherent with European, national and regional legislation and regulations. Being capable of monitoring, evaluation, control and sanctioning.

Responsibility and liability: For the farmer For the groups of farmers For the regional government authority For the Ministry of Agriculture For the European Commission But also: Efficient and targeted In order to lower overhead and enhance impact of policy
