What Is a Wireless Gateway?  The wireless gateway is a device that allows a computer and other Internet-enabled devices to access the Internet connection.  It brings together the functions of a wireless access point and a router.  A router is a hardware device or software program that allows communication between computers on the personal network and the Internet.  The reason most people want a wireless gateway in their home is to share their Internet connection with multiple PCs they have around the house.

Gateway for home Universal Dual Band WiFi Range Extender, 4-port WiFi Adapter (WN2500RP) UNIVERSAL WIFI RANGE EXTENDER (WN3000RP) VS  Extends dual band WiFi coverage  Works with any standard WiFi router or gateway ‡  Connect smartphones, iPad ®, and more  4 wired to wireless connections Extends wireless coverage Universal compatibility Easy install - no CD required Connect iPad®, Smartphones, and more RM399 RM199

Universal Dual Band WiFi Range Extender, 4-port WiFi Adapter (WN2500RP) Advanced Features  Extends 2.4 and 5 GHz WiFi signals from existing WiFi routers and extends range  FastLane ™ feature provides high-speed WiFi over a single band and is ideal for HD gaming and video streaming  4-port WiFi adapter for wired to wireless connections (Blu-ray ™ players, gaming consoles, DVRs, Internet TVs)  Dynamic LEDs display real-time network connection status and optimal extender placement System Requirements  2.4 and/or 5.0 GHz a/b/g/n wireless router or gateway  Microsoft ® Internet Explorer ® 5.0, Firefox ® 2.0, Safari ® 1.4, or Google Chrome ™ 11.0 browsers or higher for setup  Supports Windows ® 8 Standards  IEEE ® b/g/n 2.4 GHz  IEEE a/n 5.0 GHz  Four (4) 10/100 (4 LAN) Ethernet ports with auto-sensing technology Security  Wi-Fi Protected Access ® (WPA/WPA2—PSK) and WEP

UNIVERSAL WIFI RANGE EXTENDER (WN3000RP) Advanced Features  Extend Internet access for wireless devices like iPads ®, iPods ®, laptops, smart phones, game consoles and TVs  Repeats 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi signals from devices made by NETGEAR ® and other brands  Dynamic LEDs display real-time network connection status  Fast Ethernet port to connect home A/V devices to the network System Requirements  b/g/n 2.4 GHz wireless router or gateway  b/g/n 2.4 GHz wireless adapter or Ethernet adapter and cable for each computer  Microsoft ® Windows 7, Vista ®, XP ®, 2000, Mac OS ®, UNIX ®, or Linux ®  Microsoft ® Internet Explorer ® 5.0, Firefox ® 2.0 or Safari ® 1.4 or higher  Supports Windows ® 8 Standards  IEEE ® b/g/n 2.4 GHz  Fast Ethernet port Security  Wi-Fi Protected Access ® (WPA/WPA2—PSK) and WEP

Gateway for enterprise PROSAFE® DUAL BAND WIRELESS ACCESS POINT (WAG102)  Universal a/b/g Wi-Fi access provides maximum WLAN performance in high- density, high interference deployments—as many as 128 simultaneous users  High-speed connectivity, up to 108 Mbps in turbo mode, on both bands  Integrated IEEE 803.3af Power over Ethernet (PoE) and plenum rating maximize placement options RM799

PROSAFE® DUAL BAND WIRELESS ACCESS POINT (WAG102) Advanced Wireless Features  Point-to-point wireless bridge mode  Point-to-multipoint wireless bridge mode  Repeater mode  Adjustable Transmit Power Control (TPC) from 100 mW down to 0 mW  RF managment funcionality including auto power transmission, channel selection (future frimware upgrade) Physical Interfaces  LAN Port: One (1) 10/100BASE-T Ethernet (RJ-45) port with Auto Uplink™ (Auto MDI-X) with IEEE 802.3af Power over Ethernet (PoE) support  Power adapter: 12V DC, 1.0A power supply; plug is localized to country of sale  Six (6) LEDs: Power, test, 100 Mbps, link/ACT, and WLAN g  Antenna connector: Two (2) reverse SMA antenna connectors Security  40/64-, 128-, and 152-bit WEP encryption  Block SSID broadcast  VPN pass-through support  MAC address filtering with access control lists - up to 256 users  802.1x RADIUS support with EAP TLS, TTLS, PEAP  Wi-Fi Protected Access (WPA2)  Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) remote management login  Ability to configure 16 BSSIDs and VLANs to provide more granular access to the network based upon user type

Cont.. Standards, Safety and Electromagnetic Conformance  IEEE g (2.4 GHz frequency band, DSSS modulation type)  IEEE 802.3af Power over Ethernet (PoE)  FCC Part 15 Subpart B and Subpart C  CE EN (2001), EN V1.2.1 (2002), EN V1.4.1 (2002), EN ( ), EN ( ), R&TTE Directive  99/5/EC, CISPR 22 (B), AS/NZS 3548 (B)  Plenum rated  IEEE g (2.4 GHz frequency band, DSSS modulation type)  IEEE a  IEEE 802.3af Power over Ethernet (PoE)  FCC Part 15 Subpart B, Subpart C and E  C-Tick: AS/NZ 3548 Class B  CE EN (2001), EN V1.2.1 ( ), EN V1.4.1 ( ), EN ( ), EN (2003-4), EN (5 GHz), EN 60601, R&TTE Directive 99/5/EC Physical Specifications  Dimensions (h x w x d): 32 x x 122 mm (1.25 x 7.5 x 4.8 in)  Weight:.62 kg (1.3 lb)

Comparison between home & enterprise GATEWAY FOR HOME USEGATEWAY FOR ENTERPRISE USE Extends dual band WiFi coverageprovides maximum WLAN performance in high-density Works with any standard WiFi router or gateway High-speed connectivity, up to 108 Mbps in turbo mode, on both bands 4 wired to wireless connectionsIntegrated IEEE 803.3af Power over Ethernet (PoE) We can see that gateway for enterprise have many features that home does not. For me, the additional cost for these features worth because the more we upgrade the technology more we need the cost. So, no reason if the gateway for the enterprise more expensive than the home use.
