What is Sustainable Development? Sustainable development is development that meets the needs of present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.

What is Sustainable Development (continued) ⸗All definitions of sustainable development requires that we recognize the world as a system. This system that connect space, and time. Two Main Concepts: ⸗The concept of needs ⸗The idea of limitations

What is the Effect of Sustainability on the Economy? ⸗Sustainability not only helps the world survive, but it’s also a profitable business. People are finding new ways to cut back on different resources and better the methods they are already using. ⸗More sustainable ways of farming, fishing, forestry, and many more things are being discovered and used to our benefit. Sustainability is helping the world’s future while also giving companies a new way to make a profit.

Economic Sustainability Affects: 1.Fisheries 2.Forestry and wood products 3.Economics and finance 4.Technologies

Economic Effects on Fisheries ⸗Aquatic wildlife has a huge role in sustaining fresh water ecosystems and healthy marines. Therefore, it is important to responsibly manage these resources. ⸗Participation from the community can provide support to sound management practices, and remedial programs. People and industries engaged in recreational and commercial programs can support as well.

Effect of Forestry and Wood Products ⸗In our ecosystem, trees are important to both urban and rural areas. ⸗Desirable mocrocliments and shelter wildlife is maintained in mature trees. ⸗Trees also have economic value as a raw material used in the making of buildings, furniture, paper, and other wood products.

Effects on Economics and Finances ⸗All residents of the community have roles in the future of their local economy. ⸗Local financial institutions can invest in sustainable community initiatives. ⸗If the residents of this community all work together, businesses and government leaders, citizen groups, and local non-profit organizations can analyze needs and sources to guide the economy.

Economic Effects on Technology ⸗Technology has technical advances in businesses, education, health, and the environment. ⸗This provides new opportunities for communities. Some may have environmental implications. ⸗The communities need to be current and have to be able to guide these economies accurately and accordingly.

What is the Effect of Human Population Growth on Sustainability? ⸗As the growth of human population increases, the chance of sustainability decreases. ⸗There are too many people which result in resources being consumed too quickly. If people continue to reproduce so frequently, sustainability will be out of the question.

What are the Effects of Modernization of Third World Countries on Sustainability? ⸗If third world countries modernized the first world countries like us would run out of our resources even quicker. Ex: clean water, gas/oil, and wood. ⸗Third world countries don’t use a lot of resources despite their large population. Modernizing their countries would result in resources running out before they can regenerate.

New Technologies That can Help Sustainable Development ⸗3D printers ⸗Sprayable solar panels ⸗Powerleap ⸗Shoe generator ⸗Science city

Vide o Sustainability Explained Through Animation

Concluding Paragraph We need sustainability to be able to survive. Sustainability is becoming a main topic in science as the new technology inspired by sustainability will be able to help sustain the earth. Energy efficient technologies, cutting back on certain resources, and helping people to get the things they need are becoming the main goal. Sustainability is important because it keeps the world in order and people affect it quite drastically. Our actions could very well decide the fate of the world we live in, so making new technologies to help preserve the earth and help each other are very useful.

Quiz Time!

Sustainability is destroying our ecosystem. False True Or False?

The two main concepts of sustainability are the concept of needs and the idea of limitations. True True Or False?

A) 3-D Printers B) Sprayable Solar Panels C) Microwaves D) Shoe Generators Multiple Choice Which of the following is NOT a technology that will help with Sustainability? C) Microwaves

Economic Sustainability affects what four things? ⸗Fisheries ⸗Forestry and wood products ⸗Economics and finance ⸗Technologies Short Answer

What would the effects of Third World Modernization be on sustainability? Third World Modernization would result in resources being depleted much quicker, making sustainability impossible.

What effect does the Human Population Growth have on Sustainability? Long Answer If the Human Population continues to grow, sustainability will not be possible. There are already too many people and sustainability is hanging by a thread because of it.
