About The Rain Forest By: Zachary and Brenden

What is a rain forest? Rain forests are very amazing in some ways. They will always be green and colorful. Some rain forests are different than tropical rain forests. Rain forests have lots of plants and animals. The rain forests have more than half of animals that live today.

Location of Rain Forests The biggest rain forests are in Brazil. The littlest rain forest is in Asia. Most rain forests have rain because they are next to the equator The biggest rain forests are in Brazil. The littlest rain forest is in Asia. Most rain forests have rain because they are next to the equator

Emergent Layer The emergent layer is very high. Birds can live in it. The emergent layer is the tallest layer of the rain forest. Some of animals live in the emergent layer such as the harpy eagle, sloths, and toucan.

Canopy Layer The canopy is below the emergent. Many animals live there such as beautiful parrots, snakes, bats, monkeys, dragonflies, and butterflies. The canopy layer is very wet. The canopy layer is the busiest layer of all the layers.

Understory Layer The understory is above the forest floor. Lots of animals live there. Lots of monkeys, macaws, bats, geckos, snakes, and beautiful butterflies live there. The understory is very dark.

Forest Floor The forest floor is on the bottom where most plants grow. Some animals live on the forest floor such as anteaters, jaguars, cabybaras, tapirs, lizards, and frogs. The forest floor has rivers. The forest floor is on the bottom where most plants grow. Some animals live on the forest floor such as anteaters, jaguars, cabybaras, tapirs, lizards, and frogs. Deforestation Deforestation is when workers destroy the rainforest. There are four reasons that people destroy the rain forest. The first reason is for cattle. The second reason is for new cities and new highways. The third reason is for wood to sell. The last reason is to find mining, minerals, and fuel.

Tapir Baby tapirs are different from there mothers when they are born. Some tapirs are black and white and some are just black and some are white.

Tree Frogs Tree frogs are many different colors. Most tree frogs live in trees. Tree frogs are very wet because they live in the rain forest.
