Strategies for Finding Funding
Presentation transcript:

Finding grant opportunities and information about possible funders is an ongoing project for any grant seeker. There are dozens of resources and some of the best are online. Bookmark these sites and visit them often. Additionally notations in journal articles and professional presentations can provide potential funding sources in your area of interest.

US Government Grants Website: The site has a database of grant programs administered by 26 federal grantmaking agencies. 26 federal grantmaking agencies You can search by agency, category, eligibility, key words or CFDA number. You can also browse listings of grant opportunities by agency or category. Funding announcements are released daily and since there is frequently a short window of opportunity to apply for funding it is wise to check the site frequently. This site provides a brief explanation of the opportunity including eligibility to apply and links to more detailed information for the application process. Frequently the details regarding technical assistance opportunities are included in the announcement.

Private Funding Sources There are many web based resources available for seeking information on funding available from foundations, they frequently require membership fees or some type of payment. Lincoln University subscribes to the Foundation Center Online Professional. This is available on the Library webpage under electronic resources. This service provides access to timely, comprehensive information on grantmakers and their grants. Included is information about 108,000 foundations, corporate giving programs, and grantmaking public charities. The service offers a quick pathway to corporate funders; a database of recently awarded grants; and a keyword-searchable database.
