Before Before Ayatollah Khomeini came into power, the country of Iran was under a monarchy during a period called the Pahlavi dynasty under Shah Mohammad Reza Pahlavi. Mohammad Reza focused more on manipulation than on leadership.

Contd (After) Eventually, the Shah slowly lost support from the people. Islamic Leaders, such as Ayatollah Khomeini, used the feelings of the unsatisfied people to put into practice popular ideologies that were tied to the Islamic principles and called for the overthrowing of the Shah.

Dictatorship The people were fed up with having a monarchy who, in their opinion did not fully respect their Islamic values.

Rejection of Liberalism The country was in a state of unrest. Eventually, the government agreed to implement major economic measures.
