Presentation transcript:

For our thinkering project, we decided to take some old jeans, and turn them in shorts! This was a good way to recycle old jeans and turn them into something fashionable, and just have some fun! We learned a lot from this experience, and We hope we can do it next year for thinkering.

 First you need  Some old jeans  Any kind of paint or fabric markers  Any kind of lace you want to put on the shorts  A sewing kit

First you want to see how far down you want to cut your shorts to the length. Tip: to make your shorts an even length, you might want to cut one side, then fold it over. You then start to cut along the other pair, and then you should get about even shorts.

 Then you want to fold over about an inch of the pants, and sew that. This will help keep the pants together. This is called the hem.  The hem should look like the hem in this picture.  Tip: To make your pant more classy, you could use an invisible string to make it look like the string is not there.

 This is the fun part! This step is all about costuming. You can choose any kind of lace, or fabric to sew on you pants (or glue). You can also use any fabric markers or paint. We used paint to on our shorts  Tip: If you do not fabric paint, do not wash the shorts if they are painted with normal paint.
