Being The queen

The Official Name Her Most Excellent Majesty Elizabeth the Second by the Grace of God, of The United Kingdom and Northern Ireland and Her other Realms and Territories Queen, Head of the Commonwealth. She is Supreme Governer of the Church of England and Defender of the Faith.

Bithday Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth was born in London on April, 21, 1926. She was the first child of King George VI and Queen Elizabeth. She was given the names Elizabeth Alexandra Mary Windsor.

Early Life

Сhildhood Princess Elizabeth grew up pretty, cheerful, and obedient. Her strong sense of duty called to mind her grandfather George V and Queen Victoria.

Education Princess Elizabeth had one sister,Princess Margaret, who was born in 1930. The two young princesses were educated at home. Lessons concentrated on history, language, literature and music. Both princesses learnt to speak French very well.

Joining the Army In 1945 Elizabeth trained side-by-side with other British women to be an expert driver and mechanic. She joined the army. She enjoyed training with other young women in the Women's Auxiliary Territorial Service (WATS).

Marriage Princess Elizabeth was devoted to her cousin Philip Mountbatten, a naval officer. They were married in November 1947. The wedding was held in Westminster Abbey. The ceremony was broadcast on radio, to 200 million listeners worldwide.

Corronation February 1952, King George VI died and Elizabeth, his daughter, immediately became Queen. In June 1952, her coronation was held at Westminster Abbey.

The Queen’s Crown This is the Queen’s crown. She only wears it on special ceremonies, like the State opening of Parliament. The diamond in front of the crown is the biggest diamond in the world.

The Young Queen Elizabeth II came to the throne when she was 25 years old. The young queen won the affection of the British people by her charm and thoughtfulness, her modesty and simple dignity.

Reign. Being Queen Being Queen is a really busy job. Elizabeth II gets up early and begins the day by looking through the newspapers. The Queen has daily meetings with her Private Secretary who helps with her paperwork.

Official Duties and Meetings Queen Elizabeth II has a lot of official duties. She opens Parliament, . has a meeting with the Prime Minister and they discuss government business, has also a lot of meetings with ambassadors, new judges and bishops.

Public Engagements In the afternoon Elizabeth II often goes out on public engagements. She opens new bridges and factories., hands out medals, visits hospitals, and communities and provides valuable patronage for innumerable charities.

Official Visits Since acceding to the throne in 1952, Queen Elizabeth II has undertaken a number of state and official visits as well as trips throughout the Commonwealth, making her one of the most widely travelled monarchs in history.

Times of Personal Grief There have been times of personal grief which include the death of her father at 56,, the breakdown of her children's marriages in 1992, the death in 1997 of her daughter-in-law , Diana,Princess of Wales and the deaths of her mother and sister in 2002.

A Highly Respected Monarch The Queen has at times faced severe press criticism of the royal family, but her personal popularity remains high.

The Queen of Style Elizabeth II is not only the Head of the state but she is considered to be the real queen of style.
