2010 – 2011 app cycle  Modularization  Residency Determination  Race/Ethnicity  Administrative Report - Counts of top colleges  H.S. Counselor tools – prod  Other notable changes

Modularization  What is the feasibility of combining the 2 and 4-year applications?  How can we make essay submission smoother?  How can we make the process of applying for scholarships more integrated with the application for admission?

Modularization – Year One  cycle (July of 2008)  The application had three modules 1.The application for admission module 2.The scholarship module 3.The essay module  Year one changes only felt by 4-year schools

Modularization – Year One  Fall 2008 – 24,425 freshman scholarship apps submitted and 603 transfer  Fall 2009 – 48,345 freshman scholarship apps submitted and 2314 transfer

Modularization – Year Two  app cycle – (summer, 2009)  Application sections will be divided into modules  Administrator sets up app by selecting all required modules + optional modules  Profile, Biographical Information, Educational Information, Test Score Information, Residency, Extracurricular Activities, and so on  Impacts COMMUNITY COLLEGES (all modules are still required on 4-year app)

Residency Determination  Residency will be determined using the rules set out in the Texas Administrative Code Title 19, Part 1, Chapter 21, Subchapter B. Texas Administrative Code Title 19, Part 1, Chapter 21, Subchapter B.Texas Administrative Code Title 19, Part 1, Chapter 21, Subchapter B.  New fields in EDI  Yes, No, or U  U = unable to determine (next slide)  We will continue to send all of the applicant’s answers

Residency Determination

DOE race/ethnicity  Department of Education REPORTING requirement beginning with fall 2010  Change to a two-part question with the potential for the applicant to indicate more than one race/ethnicity code  Applicants may elect not to answer this question (just as they may currently)

DOE race/ethnicity...

Administrative Report – 4- year institutions

H.S. Counselor Tools  Allow counselors to track if their students have completed applications  pilot with region 13  206 counselors from 45 high schools accessed the system in  Applicants and colleges/universities can opt out

H.S. Counselor Tools  New cycle app requires use of the high school code lookup (education background module) - should see increase in nbrs of apps counselors are able to see  production implementation plan  CB rep will contact regions to begin process of authorizing counselors from other regions  ApplyTexas technical team will work with 1 rep from each of the 20 regions to get counselors authorized
