*If you are absent you are responsible for making up all missed work. *You should refer to the “Make-Up” folders or the class-website for all missed handouts/notes. *Alternative assignments will be available on the website to replace a missed lab.

 Test and quiz make-up days will be posted on the calendar website and in my classroom.  There will be at least 2 opportunities every 6 weeks to make up missed quizzes or tests.  Please keep in mind that tutorial hours are used for tutoring and not for making up tests or quizzes.

 Make up work will not be discussed during regular class time.

* You are allowed to turn in late daily work without penalty only if you have a legitimate excuse: MED, DI, FLD, etc. *You have one block for every excused block missed. * NO LATE HOMEWORK WILL BE ACCEPTED

*There are no retakes for quizzes. Each 6 weeks the lowest quiz grade will be dropped. *Students are allowed to retake a test for up to a 70. *Students who wish to retake a test will retest on the “test and quiz make-up days” mentioned earlier.

 Academic dishonesty will result in a 0 grade and a referral.  If you are using a cell phone during any type of assessment (test or quiz) you will receive an automatic zero.

 Chemistry is a very exciting subject but distractions can be potentially very dangerous.  To maintain safety and maximize learning no food, drinks, electronics or other personal items are allowed in the science classroom. Please store all personal belongings in the designated cabinets by the lab stations.

 If I see them I seize them.  If they are on they are gone.  If you use them you lose them. Confiscated items will only be returned to parents/guardians. Consider yourself warned!

*Pick up handouts as you enter the class. *Check the board for materials needed for daily activities. * Gather materials and store away what is not needed (electronics, and other personal items).

 Copy down the daily agenda, learning goal/s, and homework from the board.  During this time I will be completing housekeeping tasks such as attendance and I will not be able to assist you.  If you need to speak to me about a personal issue that is not an emergency I will conference with you later on in the period when students are working independently.

*Raise your hand. *Please do not call out answers before you have been called to answer. *When speaking always use “Accountable” talk.

* During group work all members are required to participate. Use all of the different talents of your group members to complete the assignment and remain on task.

*Make sure that all trash has been picked up and that all materials have been returned. “Leave no trace.” *If you are unsure of anything that we have covered in class or what is due next class, this is a good time to ask questions. *Once you have completed all cleanup procedures please remain in your seat, you will be dismissed by the teacher and not by the bell.

 Be Prepared  Be Engaged  Be Respectful

 Positive behavior that supports a safe learning environment for all students will result in positive consequences.

*Positive phone call/ notes home * Free homework passes *Class parties
