Throughout the school Topic-based (rainforests/Mr. Magnolia) Relevant (decimals – money) Experiential (weighing/measuring/surveying) Language-based (How many more would we need? How could we…?, I wonder…, Prove it!, How do you know?) – Problem solving

Early Years Songs and Rhymes –Ten Little Monkeys –Five Green and Speckled Frogs –This Old Man –One, Two, Buckle my Shoe

Early Years Games –Take turns counting aloud –Take turns clapping a number and the other person has to say how many –Have a teddy tea party and count while you lay the table (Do we have enough? How many more would we need? What if Granny’s teddy doesn’t come; then how many would we need?)

Early Years Counting while you’re out and about –Count cars in the car park (or cars in your row!) –Look at signs and number plates –Prices at the supermarket and in shops –Look at numbers on the clock –Count trees in the park
