Presentation transcript:

* Record your lunchtime conversation on poster paper * Share ideas

* Regroup and redesign: Create a new poster that clarifies your ideal Goals, Practices, and Materials * You should be able to articulate what you mean by each item. * The idea now is to organize, clarify, and to be concise. * This poster will be saved for use in future CCOL sessions.

* Share new, improved posters. Be prepared to answer questions of clarification.

* How do your Goals, Practices, and Materials align with your current practice? Explain.

The Standards for Mathematical Practice * 1 Make sense of problems and persevere in solving them. * 2 Reason abstractly and quantitatively. * 3 Construct viable arguments and critique the reasoning of others. * 4 Model with mathematics. * 5 Use appropriate tools strategically. * 6 Attend to precision. * 7 Look for and make use of structure. * 8 Look for and express regularity in repeated reasoning. Think-Share: How do these connect to your poster?

* What impact will the SMP have on your teaching? Will your teaching need to change? If so, how?

* How does your current curriculum look with respect to sequence, coherence, and focus? * Provide (and explain with detail) at least one example from your curriculum that illuminates: * A poor sequence of objectives * A lack of coherence or inappropriate focus
