Paris in the Spring

Wednesday 18 th April – Friday 20 th April 2012

Why Paris?

Flight Details We will be leaving at 7.15am on ‘flybe’ flight BE3041 on Wednesday, 18 th of April and will need to meet at Southampton Airport at 5.45am in order to book in as a group. Please provide your son/daughter with a sandwich/food to keep him/her going… Pupils must turn up with their passports and EHIC cards. They need to be responsible for these during the short stay in Paris.

Day 1 Once we arrive at Orly Ouest (9.35 am) we will take a shuttle bus straight to the hostel.

Oops! 50 Avenue des Gobelins Paris

We will then walk up the Rue Mouffetard, behind the Panthéon, past the Sorbonne and head down the Boulevard St Michel.

We will walk past Notre Dame

Then head on past the Hotel de Ville and pause at the Centre Pompidou.

Before arriving outside the Louvre

We will then allow the students ‘Quartier Libre’ in order to explore more of Paris. They must, however, remain in groups of at least four. We will suggest places to visit and make sure they are equipped with maps and telephones! They may of course join us as we head off to ‘Angelina’, a famous Pâtisserie on the Rue de Rivoli!! 226 rue de Rivoli

We will all meet up outside the Louvre at a prearranged time and then go to ‘Le Quartier Latin’ for our evening meal. Le Quartier Latin 1 rue Mouffetard, Paris

‘ Petit Déjeuner’ + ‘Bateau Mouche’ = Paris Day 2

We will go on a Bateau Mouche at 11am departing from ‘La Tour Eiffel’

Then it’s off to Montmatre

Evening meal at Chez la mère Catherine

‘ Petit Déjeuner’ + shopping/museum = Paris Day 3 We will offer students a choice of activities, from shopping on the Champs Elysées to exploring the ‘Marais’ district or even visiting a museum, (Musée d’Orsay/Musée Rodin)

A successful trip  Listen to instructions  Keep to meeting times  Keep in groups  Be polite and respectful to those around you At the hostel  Keep to the ‘lights out’ times – there are other people in the hostel  Keep to the times set by your teachers  Be polite and respectful to those around you

A successful trip  Make the most of the opportunities available to you.  Try to speak French when buying a metro ticket, a souvenir or ordering your food.  Enjoy Paris and enjoy being in France.  Be careful of your possessions – you are in a capital city and there will be pickpockets around especially on the metro.

A successful trip  You represent KES and you represent your family and so behave as they would expect you to behave.  You need to act responsibly, (no alcohol – no smoking – no laser pens – no bangers)

Contact Details  School mobile; /17  Mobile phone numbers of students  These should be written clearly on sheet of paper going around the room during this evening’s presentation.
