STTF Key Considerations 1. Middle School Start Times also No Earlier than 8:00. (This consideration would establish that Middle Schools should also start no earlier than 8:00 am. This consideration is based on the body of research that says that adolescents benefit from later school start times and acknowledges that middle school students fall into the age group considered adolescents by the research. ) 2. Maintenance of Athletic Programs. (This consideration would prioritize recommendations that do not result in decreasing student access to a broad athletic program.) 3. The most positive impacts to the majority of students with attention to equity.

Transportation Driver Hiring & Retention

Driver Hiring Process Step 1: Driver orientation, 1 hour, every 8 weeks. An is sent to all applicants followed up by a phone call. Step 2: Applicants required to bring a 5 year abstract (a good driving record). Step 3: Set up interviews for the following week to all still interested. Step 4: 1st week- 25 hours of classroom. During this week applicants have to go to the DOL and pass four tests, a CDL physical, a drug test and get fingerprinted. Step 5: 2nd & 3rd week- Behind the wheel training, 80 hours, including ride-a-longs to observe student management. Step 6: 4th week- CDL test training, testing at the end of the week (2 hour test). Step 7: 5th week- 2 days of driving routes with a Driver Trainer observing. Step 8: Officially hired. Step 9: At 6 months reimbursed for CDL fees (85$) Step 10: Average driver drives as a sub for 6-12 months before moving to a full time position (prior to 2010 it was 1-3 yrs)
