Senior Parking May 17, 2006
Background We have about 325 parking spaces in the east and west parking lots. Approximately 188 of those spots are needed for staff members, this does not include the staff members who park by the auto shop or by the loading docks. That leaves about 135 spots for use in student parking. There are 306 students in the junior class.
Who Gets to Park Everyday Co-Op Students –They need to drive to and from work everyday. Being able to drive to school is part of their program. –Co-op students will have a permanent, every day parking space. Seniors living out of district –Seniors who move out of the district during their senior year may apply to finish the year at NBC. –Seniors who live outside of the district will have a permanent every day parking space.
Preferred Parking Students who are involved in multiple, after school activities, have exemplary conduct records, maintain excellent attendance, and earn outstanding grades will be granted preferred parking. Students must apply for this privilege of everyday parking. It is very select (there are only 16 such spots in ). EVEN IF YOU THINK YOU WILL GET PREFERRED PARKING, APPLY FOR A BUDDY SPOT TOO!
Buddy Parking Everyone who plans to drive should apply for buddy parking. Apply with a buddy who lives close and has a similar schedule to you. Otherwise you may get end up being paired with someone that is not convenient to ride with to school. Buddy spots will be assigned on a first come, first serve basis. If you were suspended twice or have 10 or more disciplinary points you are not eligible to apply.
How to Apply All prospective drivers must complete the contract. A parent signature is required. –The contract lists ways you can lose your parking privilege: Late to school Poor discipline record Parking in the wrong spot or on the wrong day –Unregistered vehicles can be towed. Make sure you have your tag displayed at all times.
How to Apply – Part II Everyone who plans to drive to school should complete a buddy parking form. Complete it with someone you want to be paired with for the school year. Turn it in to the west main office with your contract as soon as both are completed. If you think you may qualify for preferred parking, complete that form too. It requires multiple signatures from club advisors/coaches and your counselor. Due back June 9, 2006
