11-5 You are interested in fitness and you work out at the gym of your university. Your sister bought you five sessions with a personal trainer at the gym as your birthday present. You used those sessions and became hooked on working out with a trainer. You do not have the money to continue using a trainer. You contact the owner of the gym and offer to help computerize its personal training system in exchange for more time with a personal trainer. The gym owner accepts your offer because he realizes that his business is growing and that the trainers should not be responsible for scheduling clients on their own smartphones. You suggest creating an Access database to track and schedule all training sessions; you have experience using the program in your information systems coursework.

11-6 Your tasks are to build: Database with: Switchboard Tables, as follows: Students, student ID numbers, students’ names, full addresses, telephone numbers, and the date joined the gym Trainers, ID number, name, address, and phone number Trainer Assignments, trainer assigned to each student Training Sessions, date and time of each student training session Queries: To reward the gym’s longtime members, the owner would like to mail discount coupons to anyone who has been training there for more than two years. This listing will be easy to complete using a basic select query. Students sometimes leave their belongings in the gym after a session. Therefore, the owner would like to have a way to know which students were in the gym on any particular day so he can contact them about missing items. You suggest a parameter query that prompts for an input date to satisfy his request. Students occasionally don’t like the personal trainer assigned to them, so the owner has requested a way to change the trainer for individual students. You realize that an update query will accomplish this task. A Totals Query - The gym owner tells you that he likes to encourage occasional customers to book more personal training sessions. The owner has found that if a student’s attendance begins to decline, the student is more likely to leave the gym entirely. Therefore, the owner would like a listing of students who have attended fewer than three sessions over a specified time period. A Report Query - a comprehensive list of training sessions that is subdivided into sessions with each personal trainer. The list should include the name of each student and the date of each session. Form with Subform - a streamlined way to have student customers sign up and record the date and starting time. Report - The report will show each trainer’s customers and information about their sessions (utilizes the Report Query).
