 1. Chief of state: Ceremonial head of government, symbol of the nation  2. Chief executive: Boss, most powerful office in the world  3. Chief administrator: Director of the whole executive branch, administration has 2.7 million employees  Chief diplomat: Deals with foreign affairs

 Commander in chief: controls armed forces  Chief legislature: architect of public policies, sets up major items for congress to consider  Chief of party: Head of major political party  Chief citizen: work for and respect public interest
