 $13 million project that will reconstruct 1.6 miles of a former 4- lane state highway that currently divides Muscatine’s Riverfront from its downtown.  Rebuilt as complete street showpiece that will unite two of the most important locations in Muscatine.  Muscatine Power & Water and the Canadian Pacific Railroad are partners in this project.  Design and engineering underway, construction to begin in spring of 2017, with completion to occur in 2018.

2016 $1.7 million 2017 $2 million  Separation of sewer and storm sewer  Complete reconstruction of streets

Includes: 1.Asphalt overlay 2.Concrete reconstruction $1.2 million estimated:  $700,000 Road use  $500,000 Local option  Engineering Estimate: $2.4 million  From Houser Street to the Bypass  May Bid Letting  2016 Construction

One-way or two-way? During Mississippi Drive’s reconstruction work, 2 nd Street will be converted into a two-way to detour traffic. The following reasons were identified as why the street should remain a two-way after the project:  Saves cost of converting back to one-way  Will provide convenient access and traffic pattern for proposed parking garage on 2 nd between Iowa and Chestnut  Will provide more traffic and better access to downtown  No compelling reason to remain a one-way

 $100,000 for FY2016/2017  $2 Million project (additional FOG or fats, oils, grease)  Will provide opportunity to acquire necessary material to generate gas and reduce organic waste in our landfill. The next phase will come after determining best use for the gas (plant operations or CNG for vehicles) and how much is able to be generated.

 A $42 million project:  6 story hotel with 122 guest rooms,  170 space parking garage,  12,000 square feet of conference space,  4,353 square foot ballroom,  1,000 square foot 6th floor balcony overlooking the Mississippi River.  Located at the intersection of Mississippi Drive & Chestnut Street  Broke ground in October 2015  Completion in 2017  $10 million from Iowa Reinvestment District  $6 million in TIF funding

 Complements Corridor Project and the Merrill Hotel and Convention Center  Work done by the Iowa Initiative for Sustainable Communities will provide the starting point.  Potential next phases include:  Stairs to the river  Gateway feature  Farmers market  Picnic area  Native planting & art sculptures

 Plan will be revised and resubmitted this spring  $8 million project will significantly enhance quality of life.  Project includes:  4 miles of new multi-use trail.  Major expansion of the Muscatine Soccer Complex  The community’s first dog park.  Enhancements to the Muscatine Art Center  Further development of Deep Lakes Park.  60% of needed funds have been raised, applied for $1.4 State of Iowa grant

 Forgivable Loan up to $25,000  $15,000 for startup cost  $10,000 for code related cost  City lends $100,000 per FY  $193,000 granted through this program  Nine small businesses funded  10 full time and 28 part time jobs leveraged  Targeted Districts  New small business or expanding business operations with new product or service  Program Goals:  Support local, small business  Encourage local entrepreneurs  Drive infill development to reinvigorate downtown and key districts
