Act 168 of 2014 made changes that impact education students Students must pass a basic skills test in reading, math, and writing before being accepted into the education program. Effective August 1, 2015

To continue to take education courses above the foundation level, you must be formally accepted into the Division of Teacher Education and Leadership. Why is this important? To be accepted you MUST pass either all the CORE or PAPA Basic Skills Tests or qualify as SAT or ACT exempt. Check out p. 13 in the booklet (compares PAPA and CORE).

And… ALL requirements of the Pre-Professional Benchmark

Not sure where to start?

The Brand New Benchmark Booklet has everything you need to know Faculty Contacts Portal Directions All 3 Benchmarks Clearances “How to…” Basic Skills Tests Info. Qualifying Scores Application to DTEL Advising Sheets

POP Quiz What is the minimum number of credits you need to apply to DTEL? What is the maximum number of credits you can have before being accepted to DTEL? Why is that an important number? How many requirements are there for the Pre-Professional benchmark? How many benchmarks are there? How many basic skills test must you pass? What GPA must you have to apply for certification? How many people are responsible for making sure you complete all requirements?

WE BELIEVE IN YOU! YOU CAN DO IT!
