Key Terms Bottom Up Processing – starts at your sensory receptors and works up to higher levels or processing. (SENSATION) Top Down Processing – constructs perceptions from the sensory input by combining that input with experiences and expectations. ( PERCEPTION) Perceptual Set - the mental predisposition to perceive one thing and not another Priming – The activation, often unconsciously, of certain associations, thus predisposing ones perception, memory, or response.

Key Terms Cont: Absolute Threshold – the minimum stimulation needed to detect a particular stimulus (50% of the time.)
