1.1 MACHINE IPC HARDWARE LAYOUT Advantech IPC-510BP 4U Rack Mount Chassis Advantech IPC-6608BP Desktop/ Wall mount Chassis 2

1.2 MACHINE IPC HARDWARE INSPECTION Advantech IPC-6608BP Desktop/ Wall mount Chassis 3

IPC Backplane Model Advantech IPC-510BP 4U Rack Mount Chassis IPC Motherboard Model 4

1.2 MACHINE IPC HARDWARE LABELLING Slot 1 Slot 10 Available slot for IPC-510BP Correct Labeling is important for identifying the Advantech cards name 5

1.3 MACHINE IPC HARDWARE CARDS INSTALLATION DESCRIPTION -There are SIX (6) types of hardware cards for IPC installation. Depending on what types of hardware cards is required to be installed for a project. the basic arrangement sequence for each type is as below beginning from the 1 st slot. Example: A project that requires 1xPCI-1620B, 1xPCI-1756, 2xPCI-1754, 2xPCI-1752USO, hence the arrangement for the cards will be: Slot 1: PCI-1620B Slot 2: PCI-1756 Slot 3: PCI-1754 (1) Slot 4: PCI-1754 (2) Slot 5: PCI-1752USO (1) Slot 6: PCI-1752USO (2) CARDDescription PCI-1620B(8 port RS-232 Communication Card) PCI-1756(32CH/ 32CH Digital Input Output Card) PCI-1754(64CH Digital Input Card) PCI-1752U(64CH Digital Output Card) PCI-1752USO(64CH Digital Output Card) CIF50-PB(Hilscher Profibus Communication Card) 6

1.Only proceed with this step if ICOM card installation is required. (Only for OSRAM ’ s machine and /or machine with Tape Scanner.) 2.Remove the IPC ’ s side cover and also the center beam. 3.Locate the 1 st PCI slot and remove the metal slider to make space for ICOM card. 4.Slide in the ICOM card firmly into the PCI slot and tighten the safety screw. 5.Record down the card ’ s revision number into the IPC Hardware & Software Description form. ICOM Card 1.3 INSTALLATING ICOM CARD (PCI-1620B) Part Number & Rev 7

-Only proceed with this step if Advantech PCIO card installation is required. (Please refer to PIC from Control Department for confirmation) -There are 4 types of PC I/O card, which is: PCI-1756 for 32 channel input and 32 Channel output (NPN only) use. PCI-1754 for 64 channel input (NPN/PNP) use. PCI-1752U for 64 channel output (NPN) use only. PCI-1752USO for 64 channel output (PNP) use only. -To determine which PC I/O cards to use and also the quantity required, please refer to the machine’s I/O list (can be combination of 2 or more of the above cards). -Once determine the type of PC I/O cards and also the quantity required, proceed to set the cards Board ID before installing into the IPC. -For the 1 st PC I/O card, start with Board ID = 0 by leaving the jumpers to its default setting. (Default setting = All switches is set to ON = Board ID 0) 1.4 INSTALLING PC I/O CARD (PCI-1756, PCI-1754 & PCI-1752) 8

-Example below is the layout of PCI-1756 card with the Board ID set to 0. Switch default setting All = ON Part Number & Rev 9

-For the 2 nd PC I/O card, set the Board ID = 1 before inserting the card into the 3 rd PCI Slot in the IPC. (Only switch 1, 2 & 3 = ON where Board ID = 1) -Proceed to install the rest of the PC I/O cards into the IPC with the value of the Board ID for each card increase by 1 (+1). -Each of the switch value is 2 n (2 to the power of n) where n=0 to 3 from right to left. So for switch 4 (S4), n=0; S3, n=1; S2, n=2; and S1, n=3. 10

S1 (2 3 )S2 (2 2 )S3 (2 1 )S4 (2 0 )Board ID ON 0 (Default) ON OFF1 ON OFFON2 OFF 3 ONOFFON 4 OFFONOFF5 ONOFF ON6 OFF 7 ON 8 OFFON OFF9 ONOFFON10 OFFONOFF 11 OFF ON 12 OFF ONOFF13 OFF ON14 OFF 15 -This is a table for the switch setting for Board ID. -The Board ID is important to determine the physical hardware for driver installation and I/O mapping steps later. -After installing the PC I/O cards, record the card revision number into the IPC Hardware & Software Form before proceed to the next steps. 11

1.5 INSTALLING PROFIBUS CARD (CIF50-PB) -Only proceed with this step if Hilscher Profibus card installation is required. (Only install the Profibus card for machine using PLC modules.) -Record down the card’s revision number into the IPC Hardware & Software Form. 12

1.5 HARDWARE HOUSEKEEPING -After installation of all the hardware cards, check that all the screws is tighten properly. -Make sure all cables are properly tied up and connected -Check that the exhaust fan is installed in the IPC as well (most bottom slot). -Below is the picture of how the IPC looks like after installing all the hardware. Exhaust Fan 13

-Fasten the rubber plug onto the centre beam for all cards to prevent the cards from sliding out of the slot. -Then install back the center beam (with screw tighten) and side cover. -Below is the picture of how the IPC looks like after installing the centre beam. Center beam with rubber plug 14

-At the back of the IPC, label all slots and COM ports with the correct labels. -Example of complete labeling is as shown in the picture below. 15

-Paste the Intotest serial number at the front of the IPC as shown in the picture below. The reason for doing this is for tracking and troubleshooting purposes in the future. Intotest Serial Number 16

-Seal off the Windows license and also the IPC Manufacturer label with a clear tape. This is to prevent damage on both the label. Windows License Label IPC Manufacturer Label 17

-Power-on IPC and when entering windows, go to the Start menu and right click on “My Computer” and then select “Properties” -Navigate to the “Hardware” tab and select “Device Manager”. Make sure that the IPC’s Processors hardware configuration is Hyper Threading (2 processing unit) as shown below. 1.5 HARDWARE CONFIGURATION 18

-Click on General tab under System Properties. Confirm that the system memory is 2GB RAM (it will shows 1.99GB) and the Operating System is Microsoft Windows XP Professional as shown below. 19

-Finally, right click ‘My Computer’  click ‘Properties’  click ‘Manage’  expand the disk drives  right click the disk drives & click ‘Properties’  untick the ‘Enable write caching on the disk’  click ‘OK’ button. 20
