What We Do on a Typical Day in the Classroom Determines the Quality of Our Instruction

Design the Typical Day Work out a typical class session that focuses on thinking through content. Include reading, writing, speaking, hearing, applying ideas into thinking.

Typical Day: One Example Students bring a paper to class Students work in pairs/triads giving feedback to one another on their papers. (using intellectual standards) You briefly introduce a new concept You give new assignment for next class.

Structure for Daily Paper State the assignment in your own words. State the purpose of the assignment State the key question in the assignment (with an interrogative sentence-with a question mark at the end). Do the assignment.

Additional Ideas for a Typical Day Have students write out the logic of an article for multiple class days. Have students write out the logic of a chapter for each class period. Critical Reading for multiple class days Read/write/teach
