Year 8 trip to Barcelona Wednesday 22nd April – Sunday 26 th April

Wednesday 22nd April Students are to bring their luggage to school. One suitcase or large bag and one piece of hand luggage (max 15kg). School bags should be made as light as possible for this day and then placed in suitcase. The luggage will be stored in the room at the back of the LRC. End of period 5 students are to go straight to the LRC to collect their luggage. Students need to pack a packed tea / dinner. They will also have the opportunity to buy a meal at Gatwick airport.

Friday 24th April a.m activity: Nou Camp Stadium Picnic lunch at Miramar p.m activity :Miró Sagrada Familia Evening activity back at base.
Saturday 25th April a.m activity: Visit to market town of Vilanova Picnic lunch at beach (paddling only allowed) p.m activity :Torres Vineyards Evening activity aqua gym back at base. After evening meal: Latin American Dance Workshop
Sunday 26th April a.m activity: Science museum Picnic lunch at science museum p.m activity :Arena Shopping Centre If time Old Bull Ring Flight back to Gatwick Arrive at Tomlinscote 01.30
HAND LUGGAGE What to pack: Passport Medication (clearly marked with the student’s name and with precise instructions for administering the medication) Spending money in Euros in a wallet or purse Packed tea / dinner and small amount of drink but NO CHEWING GUM OR NUTS OR NUT PRODUCTS MP3 player / book/ playing cards / notebook / camera etc Barcelona booklet and pens Spanish / English dictionary
HAND LUGGAGE What NOT to pack: No dangerous / sharp items may be carried in hand luggage including scissors in pencil case No aerosols No mobile phones No internet enabled devices
General Luggage Light jacket / waterproof and suitable clothing for all weathers. (Layers are best) Football shirts will be allowed to be worn on Friday when visiting Nou Camp. Sensible, comfortable footwear! (Trainers for sport activities back at base) No crop tops, bare shoulders or bare midriffs. Skirts and shorts of a decent length. Night clothes and alarm clock(if possible!) Toiletries, including a high factor sun protection cream A hat and sunglasses Swimwear Hair dryer but no hair straighteners and an adaptor plug for electric appliances
Accommodation The accommodation is a high quality chalet resort in the town of Vilanova. It is well equipped with a swimming pool and evening / sport activities on site. All meals will be provided. Towels and bedding are provided and all chalets contain their own bathroom
Arrival We will arrive at the resort at 10.30pm(ish) Spanish time TomlinscoteMFL
Phone chain We do NOT expect to use the phone chain. Would be used if our arrival time were to be delayed by more than a couple of hours.
Behaviour It goes without saying that we expect the highest standards of behaviour from students. Anyone felt not behaving appropriately will be dealt with severely. We will make every effort to ensure that students are happy with their rooming arrangements but we do reserve the right to move students if there are any behaviour issues. During the day we expect students to drink water to keep hydrated. We will regulate how many sweets are eaten too!!
