QUESTION 1: A 1500 kilogram drag racing car sits at the start line. The race begins and lasts 15.2 seconds. At the point that the drag racing car crossed the finish line, it had a velocity of 80 meters per second. How much force was the engine exerting on the car during the race?

QUESTION 2: A complete and total moron drops a bowling ball out of a plane. As the bowling ball falls to the ground, it accelerates faster and faster. When the bowling ball hits a car parked below it, the bowling ball is traveling at a velocity of 340 meters per second. Assuming that their was no air resistance or friction, how long did it take for the bowling ball to fall to Earth?

QUESTION 3: A group of students was pushing a 1200 kilogram car on a perfectly flat surface for 20 seconds. The students were pushing the car with a constant force of 300 Newtons. By the time the car crossed the finish line, the car was traveling at a velocity of 4.5 meters per second. Assume that the only forces other than the students was friction. How much force was friction exerting on the car as it moved?

Tips and Hints: Start by making a list of all of the quantities that the problem gives you (velocity, mass, acceleration, etc.) Then, look at the formulas that you know. Are there any quantities that you don’t know, but that are found in a formula that you have all of the OTHER variables for? What other quantities can you figure out with the information available? Make diagrams to help you visualize the information!
