Darfur Genocide in the 20th century

Introduction ◈ For this activity you will gain a more thorough understanding of the people in Darfur and what is being done about the genocide that is taking place there. You will also learn what it would be like to grow up in a region like this, and how this compares to the genocide that occurred during the Holocaust. ◈ You will need to open the following document. Once the document is open, click “file” and then “make a copy.” Save the copy as “Your Name-Darfur Webquest.” This new document is where you will record your answers and share with your teachers. ◈ Darfur Webquest Darfur Webquest

Background The Sudan is the largest country in Africa. In 2003, a group of Arab militias (funded and armed by the government) began the mass murder of men, women, and children in Western Sudan, in the area known as Darfur.
