Pre-production proposal.

Content Outline Two artists coming together to share their musical talent to fundraise for a charity of their choosing. One artist will be current/popular today while the other will be a veteran of the music world. For example, Fleetwood Mac and Haim, Stevie Wonder and Bruno Mars, Tony Bennet and Lady Gaga. They will work on a song together which can be an original song or a mash-up, incorporating songs of their own missed together.

They will record this new creation in a standalone studio owned by us, which will be fully functional with a wide range of instruments and recording systems at the artists’ disposal. The song will be sold on iTunes and in record stores. All proceedings will go to a charity of the artists’ choosing.

Purpose The purpose of this show is to entertain the masses, fundraise for a wide variety of charities and to introduce new music to different ages. This will be a very exciting project for all involved and will also be hugely beneficial for the artists themselves and the charities which they have chosen to donate to.

Target Audience As the idea of this media product is to fundraise, it is important to reach as many people as possible. That is the benefit of having two artists from different eras to attract a broad target audience of different ages. Therefore, the target audience will be anyone with an interest in popular music, regardless of their age and social demographic.

Competition Our main competition comes in the form of various radio station’s ‘live room recordings’ such as BBC Radio 1’s Live Lounge and Spin 103.8’s Live Room. However while these are similar in format, ours is unique because we have two different artists coming together. Also our project is for charity.

Advertising and marketing Press: The reason for advertising our show in newspapers/ magazines is for more of the older audience who wouldn’t use social media or have access to the internet as easily as our younger audience would. Television: The reason we will use television for a form of advertising is because you can make different ads to suit different television channels. It also gets the show out to a bigger broader audience.

Outdoor advertising: The type of outside advertising we’ll be using is Billboards, Bus stop signs and buses. This helps get our show out advertised on the towns. Social media: The type of social media sites that we’ll be using will be Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Snapchat. Another important site that we’ll be using is YouTube. That will help us show the audience what goes on behind the scenes and let them hear messages from their favourite stars.

Merchandising: The type of merchandising we’ll be using will vary from pens, key rings, T-shirts, hoodies and mugs. We’ll also be doing competitions and give-aways to the listening audience.

Budgeting The budget for this project will mostly be spent on the recording studio and the advertising/marketing campaign. A budget of roughly €35,000 should be set.

Launch Party This should be located quite near to the recording studio so that it is convenient for the artist and personnel to get to after the first recording. An example of a good venue would be The Red Cow Moran Hotel.

Project Schedule MonthGoal March Propose idea to sponsors and rent/build a functioning recording studio April Contact and confirm artists’ availability in advance to record on set dates. May Ensure we have sufficient funds and sponsorship for our project. June Begin advertising campaign and create awareness. Contact radio and television stations to ask for their support in advertising the project. Design posters and slogans. Book venue for launch. July Create social media accounts and generate interest and excitement. August Spread posters. Create an advert in magazines, newspapers etc. Also a promotional video for television, online and before films in the cinema. September Host the first live recording at the studio to be followed a launch party in a set venue. The project schedule will be rough and is may be changed due to unforeseen circumstances.
