HOW ISIS MAKES ITS BILLIONS Ella Russell 3 rd hour

HOW MUCH ISIS MAKES: $1,000,000 to $10,000,000 a day, with $2,000,000,000 just this past year. ISIS earns money from: Donations Taxes Selling illegal drugs Extortion Smuggling and selling illegal oil from the ground

MAKING MONEY THROUGH OIL: Oil underground in Besaslan, Turkish-Syrian border. They pump oil from the ground, deliver oil to the Syrian border. There, it’s pumped into pipes buried underground. At the other end of the pipes, traders in Besaslan take the oil, & deliver it to local Turkish businessmen. The Turkish businessmen sell it secretly to gas stations, or set up illegal filling stops.

MAKING MONEY THROUGH TAXES: ISIS has been taking over towns and neighborhoods, & forcing the residents in the area to pay them. Charging/threatening innocent folks, killing them. Not legal, people are too scared to stand up for themselves. Syria, Iraq, and Turkey.

MAKING MONEY THROUGH ROBBERIES, EXTORTION, AND DONATIONS: Bank robberies Threatening people to give them their money. Donations from the governments of the Persian kingdoms, and wealthy people in Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Kuwait. First starting out, got donations from people. People donated because they said they were starting a group called ISIS that would do great things. ISIS lied about who they were, and what they were going to do so they could get money to start their clan.
