Computing Fundamentals Lesson 7 – Vector’s This lesson you will be discovering how computers can create smaller graphic types, by saving shapes rather than pixels.

Consider the difference between vector and bitmapped graphics. Learning Goals Surface Learning Deep Learning Computer Fundamentals Lesson 7 – Vector Graphic’s In this lesson you will… Explain how vector graphics are created in a computer program. Understand how vector graphics and bitmapped graphics are used, in a system.

Theory Bitmap Saves every point and pixel – 3,1,Bla, 4,1,Bla, – 5,1,Bla, 6,1,Bla – 7,1,bla, 8,1,Bla – 9,1,Bla, 3,2,Bla…. And onwards... Vector Just save’s – Square 3,1 – 9,5 Bla – Because it saves the line rather than the dots, Can be resized indefinably! – Zoomed right into, and zoomed out off… – Much smaller files BUT not good for none shape pictures (e.g. photos)

Further The advantage of vector graphics is the ability to resize and zoom in, without losing detail. Make use of the ability to zoom in, how far can you zoom in and add things? Load the sketchuproom from the intranet, can you see anything odd about it?.. Zoom in and look.

Sketch-up 3d software is also normally vectors, to allow different view points to be allowed. Use Google sketch up and draw a square. Keep drawing smaller squares on top of it, (zooming in each time) how far does it let you go?.. Zoom out and look!

Task Designing building layouts is a common use of vector graphics. As it allows you to zoom in and add lots of detail. Load office template from the intranet (a sketch up file), your teacher will show you how to add elements to it from the 3dwarehouse. A new magazine has just bought this building to set up, plan out how the building will be used.

Computer games Use vector type graphics to allow the creation of 3d worlds. Why do you think they do this?

Consider the difference between vector and bitmapped graphics. Learning Goals Surface Learning Deep Learning Computer Fundamentals Lesson 7 – Vector Graphic’s In this lesson you did… Explain how vector graphics are created in a computer program. Understand how vector graphics and bitmapped graphics are used, in a system.
