Revolutionary Breakthrough in Optimized Marine Design Introducing Turbo Technology from Dometic Environmental

Two years ago we set out to reinvent the self-contained marine air conditioning unit. Redesigned every element from the inside out. Started from the beginning with a blank page. Asked our customers what they wanted.

Conducted survey of 200 boatbuilders (OEMs), distributors and dealers. We followed Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) principles.

Gold: Requirements attainable with minor effort Lavender: Mixed signals if really a requirement White: Requirement conflicting and/or difficult Compiled weighted list of desired attributes. Used DFSS tools to analyze results and develop 44 design goals.

All our marine HVAC products are tested to operate in conditions outside of established marine HVAC design specifications: Low to high water temperature variations Low to high air temperature variations Other variables: voltage, humidity, fan speed, water flow rate Air Temp Water Temp Tested alternative designs in our computer-controlled automated parametric test lab.

About Optimized Marine Design Utilizing our new parametric testing lab: We can alter discrete or multiple components and/or operating conditions and test for efficiency. We can maximize efficiency of the components within the specifications required by the marine pleasure boat environment. We are able to increase capacity and reliability and decrease power consumption. The result is a superior product for our customers.

You challenged us to come up with an optimized marine design that would provide: Increased efficiency Smaller size, lower weight Improved performance Lower amperage draw High-velocity quiet blowers Easier installation Better condensate removal Quieter operation with less vibration Optional sound shield for additional noise reduction

The result is a brand new design that meets your needs.

Centrifugal enclosed-motor high- velocity blower. Rotates through 270 degrees with one adjustment screw. Inlet ring designed so that height of unit does not increase when blower rotates. We totally redesigned the blower unit to meet or exceed your requirements.

Rust-free molded composite. Channels to provide positive flow to drains. Three pop-out drain holes. Tapered threaded drain fittings for quick attachment of hoses. Lifting handle molded in pan. Result: Reduction of up to 85% in standing water. We totally redesigned the condensate drain pan.

We redesigned the unit with built-in vibration isolation and noise reduction measures. Built-in isolation mounting system minimizes vibration to outer hull. Specially designed isolator mounting clips. Vibration mounts for compressor molded drain pan. Optional sound shield for additional noise mitigation.

We reduced the unit’s height by up to 17%. Height reduction varies according to model.

We increased capacity by up to 21%. Sizes Based on ABYC Increased value Reduce number of models Reduced vibration Additional cost savings Best-case performance tests in parametric test lab comparing 12,000 BTU Vector Compact vs. 12,000 BTU turbo under typical marine conditions.

We reduced amperage draw by up to 27%. Best-case performance tests in parametric test lab comparing 5,000 BTU Vector Compact vs. 6,000 BTU Turbo under typical marine conditions. Lower amperage draw means two 16,000 BTU turbo units can operate on one 30 amp shore power cord. The reduction in amperage draw allows you to run additional A/C devices.

We have 50Hz green gas performance rating. 50Hz performance rating meets all the European standards for green gas. Gas type tested is R417A.

We made it easier to install/service the unit. Easy access to compressor, condenser and refrigerant parts. Remotable electric box.

17% reduction in unit’s height. 21% increase in capacity. 27% reduction in amperage draw. 85% reduction in standing water. Optimized Marine Design has enabled us to achieve:
