EURISOL DS Task 11.2 Universidad de Santiago de Compostela, Spain Eurisol DS: task 11 meeting March‘05

Subtask description  Preparation of an experiment to investigate residual nuclei production in the reaction 132 Sn+Be at different energies and data taking of the experiment  Analyze data, provide production cross sections and validate and improve model calculations on fragmentation of neutron-rich projectiles Eurisol DS: task 11 meeting March‘05

Implementation plan for the first twelve months  Preparation of the experiment proposal and submission to the GSI PAC.  Construction of specific detectors required for this experiment new readout for ADCs to increase the acquisition rate Eurisol DS: task 11 meeting March‘05  Detailed planification of the experiment  Beam time preparation: detector setup and DAQ  Data taking with 136 Xe and 238 U beams

Reminder of the experiment  Production of extremely neutron-rich isotopes (two-step schemes: fission + cold fragmentation) n,p U  132 Sn + Be  X  Ground state properties of extremely neutron-rich isotopes Total interaction cross sections: rms matter distributions Proton knock-out: rms charge distributions, binding energies Proton and neutron pickup: charge versus mass distribution Eurisol DS: task 11 meeting March‘05

Present status of the work Eurisol DS: task 11 meeting March‘05  A new plastic scintillator detector is being built at GSI to be used as ToF start at S1  The experiment proposal was submitted and approved by the GSI PAC (18 shifts 136 Xe-parasitic and 18 shifts 238 U )  There are two options for the tracking at S2 (GEM or TPCs). We should decide on one of those  Somebody should work on the new readout of ADCs  We propose a special meeting to coordinate the preparations (participants outside EURISOL: CENBG, Finland)  We will try to get the beam in the first block of 2006
