Rotary Club of Bangor The Heart of Bangor Business
What do they think about us? Over the past few weeks I’ve asked friends and colleagues what their impressions are of Rotary. Good Deeds : Trustworthy Fundraising : Men Only Out of touch : Service to Bangor Community Group : Old fashioned International : Polio Eradication Conservative : Car Ballot Charity Breakfast
Repositioning our Club During the two Working Lunches we held this year we have identified three key areas in which we as a Club are agreed we need to focus: 1.Raise our profile & engage with other organisations. 2.Engage with the Bangor Business and Professional Community. 3.Be more social.
Raising our Profile Everything we undertake in the year will measured by its effectiveness in raising our profile within our community: Existing events. Young Leaders Competition (Zone Final) Car Ballot. New events. Remembrance Tree (with North Down Rotary & Probus) Schools Concert (with 4 secondary schools) All supported charities in Bangor. Upgraded PR – in print and online.
Engaging with Bangor Business Community As part of our strategy we will increase our engagement with the Bangor Business Community: Charity Breakfast. Third Wednesday Business Speakers Series. International Women’s Day Event (with other organisation) 5K Clandeboye Estate (with teams from local businesses and help from Sea Cadets & St Johns Ambulance)
Creating more social opportunities Rotary is about doing good works, fundraising – and having fun: Cinema & Theatre Outing. Bus Trip. Christmas Dinner Burns Night Dinner. SERC Dinner. Fifth Wednesday Dinner. Overnight break.
