* MOTIVATION * WHAT IS GMOs? * HISTORY OF GMOs * ADVANTAGES OF GMOs * DISADVANTAGES OF GMOs * SOLUTIONS * CONCLUSION

One hot day, we were eating watermelon. There were no seeds in the watermelon. So, we wondered ‘why doesn’t this watermelon have seeds?’ and we found out it was because of GMOs. So we started to research GMOs. Finally, we chose it as our topic.

‘Genetically Modified Organisms’. GMOs are constituted as an animal, plant, or other organisms whose genetic structure has been changed by genetic engineering.

There are significant restrictions or outright bans on the production and sale of GMOs. In the U.S., the government has approved GMOs based on studies conducted by the same corporations that created them and profit from their sale.

How common are GMOs? -In the U.S., GMOs are in as much as 80% of conventional processed food.

James Watson and Francis Crick investigated DNA structure They were able to remove and replace strands of DNA.

Scientists inserted new strands of DNA into a bacteria (nowadays)- GMO foods increase in complexity and popularity.

Prevent environmental and physical damage Prevent environmental pollution Help poor people

New allergies and illnesses. New bacteria Cause serious cancers.

Companies should conduct many tests and processes. Governments should try to implement more GMO regulation. Nations should judge accurately whether foods are GMOs or not.

LEE JU YEON: I thought GMOs were only a bad thing but I was surprised to learn that GMOs can be good too. But I hope they hurry up and execute GMO labeling. KWAK SEON WOO: I’m happy because I learned a lot about GMO foods and GM crops. And I also learned that GMO is short for Genetically Modified Organisms.

KIM GA HYEON : These days, GMO food makes headlines internationally.Because of this, natural and environmental serious problems are formed. So, we researched the cause of it and I feel really great by knowing more about GMO foods. JOH MIN YOUNG: I was shocked that many foods include GM grain. I hope ‘GMO labeling’ practices are introduced soon in our country and nations feel relieved when they eat the GMO food.
