Generalizations GENERALIZATION People always go to the beach in the summertime. SPECIFIC DETAILS We usually go on vacation to the beach in the summer. My cousins come with us to the beach during the summer. My best friend went to the beach last summer. Our neighbors are going to the beach this summer.

Generalizations must be based on facts. But – they do not have to be true!

Generalizations Generalizations can be valid or invalid. (true or false) If a generalization is valid, it is well supported by facts, experience and logic. If a generalization is invalid, it is not supported by all the facts. Experience and logic tell us it cannot be true.
