Aims of Sessions To understand the partnership Challenge your thinking and perceptions around disability sport To understand the benefits of physical activity and sport To be introduced to the range of disability and inclusive sport and physical activity opportunities in North Wales To be introduced to the new pathway and how to signpost To understand your role in promoting physical activity and sport to disabled people

Principles of the Calls for Action submission Currently only 3.4% (4,704 individuals) of the disabled population of North Wales are involved with sport/ physical activity Disabled populations are traditionally invisible All disabled people come into contact with Health at some point Little formal relationship between health and sport, beyond NERS

Health Disability Sport Partnership 3 year partnership in North Wales BCUHB and DSW Develop strong, sustainable communication links between health and sport Aim to increase participation to 6% (8,602 individuals) by 2017 Develop an accessible, sustainable pathway from health to disability sport Identify 5 performance level athletes

What can you do? Provide your patient’s with timely information on becoming physically active/ involved in sport Motivate them to the benefits (both physical, mental and social). Motivate them to the exciting opportunities Signpost them to the Health Disability Sport Pathway
