Design your own Chindogu ‘Chindogu' is the Japanese word coined for the art of the unuseless idea. Strangely practical and utterly eccentric inventions for a life of ease and hilarity. This task challenges your independent learning and your creative thinking skills and will help you come up with more imaginative ideas.

The challenge: 1.To research Chindogu. 2.To pick your five favourite Chindogu ideas and justify them. 3.To come up with your own Chindogu design to be presented to the judging panel. 4. To manufacture a prototype of your Chindogu 5. To write a report about your Chindogu explaining how it satisfies the 10 tenets of Chindogu as outlined by the International Chindogu Society (maximum 1000 words)

Deadlines: Key Mile Stone: online registration of ideas needs to be completed by February 10th Final Deadline: March 10th

Judging: Judges will be awarding points based on the following criteria: Innovation Style Achievement Engagability Judges will also be looking for a Chindogu which follows the Ten tenets of Chindogu as outlined by the International Chindogu Society. These are on the VLE homework page.

Prizes There will be a £50 prize fund, this will be distributed based on the quality of the entries. If your entry fits all the success criteria you may win all of the prize fund

How to enter: You can work individually or in pairs Your name and ideas must be registered through the VLE Homework page by February 10th
