AGC Refugee Initiative AN INTRODUCTION TO THE AGC’S REFUGEE SPONSORSHIP INITIATIVE

The situation we find ourselves in today… There have already been over 300,000 Mediterranean crossings in ,052,011 individual Syrians registered with the United Nations Refugee Agency.

The situation we find ourselves in today… Fear of persecution has forced millions to flee their homes. By the end of 2014, 13.9 million individuals were newly displaced due to conflict or persecution. Since the Spring of 2011 when unrest began in Syria, there have been over 11 million Syrians displaced.

How the AGC is responding: Working with C&MA to immediately begin sponsoring refugee families to come to Canada. Tim & Susan Davis are providing leadership for the development of the AGC’s own long-term Refugee Sponsorship Initiative. An informative website & facebook page to keep people updated on our progress. Facebook.com “AGC Refugee Sponsorship Initiative”

What can you do? Talk to others in your church to see if there is interest to sponsor a refugee family in your community. Contact Tim & Susan for an information package. Pray for the millions of refugees, for relief efforts and aid agencies, and for churches in Canada assisting in the settlement of refugees. Provide funds to the AGC Refugee Sponsorship Initiative Relief Fund taking advantage of our Government’s “matching program” that is in place until Dec. 31, 2015

What can you do? Partner with another church in your area that is sponsor- ing a refugee family. an.org for a list of participating churches in your area. an.org For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me… Matt. 25:35 Together we can make a difference.
