OBJECTIVE: To explore ideas and interests that you may one day pursue when creating your IB Personal Project in 10 th grade (MYP Year 5). 10 ITEMS TO BE ADDRESSED: 1.Thinking: Choose a Topic 2.Thinking: Write a Statement of Inquiry (Guiding Question) 3.Thinking: What Learner Profile will you exhibit in your project? 4.Information Literacy: Where will you find information? 5.Collaboration: Who will you need help from (Mentors)? 6.Organization: Steps needed in order to complete the project (Planning, Research, Purchase of Supplies, Construction, etc). 7.Reflection: What roadblocks might be encountered (cost, time, etc)? 8.Reflection: What will it take to be successful? 9.Communication: How will you present the project to the public? 10.Transfer: How will the project impact/transfer to your life and learning. POSTER A visually stunning poster should be created answering each of the 10 Items to be Addressed. Each of the 10 items will need a 4-5 sentence reflection.

ASSIGNMENT #1 - INVESTIGATE IDENTIFY 3 PERSONAL INTERESTS 1.Climbing 2.Music 3.Bicycles DEVELOP 3 PASSION PROJECT IDEAS FOR EACH 1.Climbing a.) Design and build a campus board. b.) Create a guidebook for a climbing area. c.) Produce a short climbing film. 2. Music a.) Produce a Photo Story/Film of early Hip-Hop history. b.) Create a piece of music through Music Sampling. c.) Develop a Book/Playlist that pairs music with photography. 3.Bicycles a.) Restore an old bicycle. b.) Design and sew a custom bag for use on bicycle frames. c.) Plan and organize a bike event.

ASSIGNMENT #2 - INVESTIGATE AFTER IDENTIFYING 2 PROJECT IDEAS: ∙ FIND 2 SOURCES FOR EACH THAT GIVE INFORMATION ON THE TOPIC. ∙ Cite all 4 Sources (use MLA) and for each comment on how the source would help you during the planning/creation of the project (2-3 sentences). EXAMPLE: a.) Design and build a campus board. “How to Build a Campus Board”. Indoorclimbing.com. Indoorclimbing.com, Web. 10 Feb This website article teaches me how to build a campus board. It shows the construction techniques, math, and resources I will need. It does not give a cost but I think it will be in my budget.

ASSIGNMENT #3 - Plan Choose one of the topics you researched, this will be your Passion Project Topic! 1.Create/Write out a Topic Title and write a 4-5 sentence reflection on why this is the topic you chose. 2.Create/Write out an Statement of Inquiry (Guiding Question), write a 4-5 sentence reflection on why you choose this question? EXAMPLE: 1.) Title: Designing and building a campus board. I chose this topic because I love to climb. Climbing is supposed to be challenging and I would like to progress to harder climbs. A campus board will allow me to quickly gain strength. I also think that building one will be cool, as I get to use power tools. 2.) How can building a campus board help me get stronger? I chose this guiding question because campus boards are unlike most climbing walls. They are just thin slats of wood that are mounted to a gentle overhang and you are not allowed to use your feet. As part of my project, I want to explore why this setup is so good for training. I will hopefully finish the construction in time to see positive gains in my climbing that I can use to answer this question.
