Contour Drawing A contour is the line which defines a form or edge - an outline. Contour drawing is the place where most beginners start, following the visible edges of a shape.

Drawing Complex objects Start by breaking them down into simple shapes Pay attention to which object is closer to you and which is further away. Look for overlapping lines Look for the bottom and top edges of the object to determine it’s overall shape. Give it a center line.
