HOD – TEXTILE ENGG. (Message) It has been a great privilege for me that Management of PIET and Director have created a good platform to share the current activities and achievements of the Department of Textile Engineering through the most efficient electronic media, E-Newsletter. I want to establish global leadership in the field of Textile and develop competent human resources for providing service to industry and academia. I extend my warm greetings to all textile students, faculty and staff for their untried effort to achieve mission and vision of the department.

Editor’s View It gives me immense pleasure to be a part of this e-news letter, a mode of communication which suites best to the 21 st century for carrying messages about important events, happenings and achievements to all concerned. It will also be effective in creating a sense of belongingness among faculty and students. I am sure it will be a huge success providing the desired results sooner than expected and new ideas will find a platform to bloom.

International conference attended by Textile students An International Conference on “Innovations in Textile” was attended by Students of Textile Department on 7 th Nov in Jawahar Lal Nehru Govt. Engg. College, Sundernagar, H.P. Various dignitaries spoke on different aspects in textile which resulted in the addition of knowledge of students.

Govind Singh Textile student of 3 rd year won Bronze medal in KUK university for Best Physique in Dec, Student of 3 rd year won 2 nd Prize in Volleyball held at IITM, Murthal in September, Gagandeep Singh

Shubhi Jain Won 2 nd Prize in Card making and T- shirt painting Competition in Maestro’s 2k16.

Short Term Course Faculty of our department attended QIP Sponsored 4 days short term course on “Textile Structure and Structural Composite” from 15 th -18 th February in IIT Delhi.

Paper Presentation An organization is known by its Head and a Department by its HOD. A paper on “Impact of colour-emotion on textile application” was presented by our HOD in National Conference on “Fashion Apparel & Textile” held on 4 th March, 2016 which was organized by Amity School of Fashion Technology at Amity University, Noida, U.P. He also published an article recently named as “Acoustic Textiles, A new era of noise control” in Asian Textile Journal, Pg , Vol. 24, No. 11, Nov, ISSN:

Home Tex Tech Expo Textile students visit the Home Tex Tech Expo on 12 th March which was being held in Panipat at Anaj Mandi. Leading manufacturers and importers of textile machinery and accessories from all over India and abroad participated in this exhibition.
