Your Alternative Energy Source? Your Names?

Energy Source Description (slide 2) Please come up with the most basic description of how ELECTRICTY is produced using your energy source (this does not count for biofuels) This should be done in approximately one or two sentences. –If this is too long you will lose points Your classmates WILL be writing this information down. Include pictures

Energy Source Description (slide 3) This slide can be used to talk about your alternative resource in a bit more detail This would not necessarily be copied down into your classmates notes This slide should involve more explanation and pictures than writing Include pictures or diagrams

Energy Source Description (slide 3) Possibly go into detail how it works or any other interesting facts. –Wind – how is WIND created? –Solar – how do the solar (photovoltaic) cells work? –Hydroelectric – how do the dams work? –Geothermal – how do the power stations work? (diagram!) –Nuclear – how do the power stations work? (diagram of the reactor) –Tidal – explain how do these work (diagram!) –Wave – explain how do these work (diagram!) –Biomass / Biofuels – explain the process of making them DO NOT MAKE THIS SLIDE LONG AND BORING

Energy Source Advantages (slide 4) Please create a SIMPLE list of advantages You should have at least 3-4 examples Each should have LESS than 7-10 words (in most cases) –If not you will lose points Remember, your classmates will be writing these down, so please be as short and concise as possible Include pictures

Energy Source Disadvantages (slide 5) Please create a SIMPLE list of disadvantages You should have at least 3-4 examples Each should have LESS than 10 words (in most cases) –If not you will lose points Remember, your classmates will be writing these down, so please be as short and concise as possible Include pictures

Extra Info (depends on your resource) (slide 6) Wind – describe where in the US wind best can (or is) be used (map is needed) Hydroelectric – explain where these power stations can be built (what specific land formations do you need) Geothermal – describe where in the world geothermal best can (or is) be used (map is needed) Tidal – explain where the best location to build these are found (where can the largest flux in tides be found?) Wave – focus on the wave created wind form of Wave Energy for the project. Use this slide to discuss the other type. Nuclear – what country uses the most nuclear? Also, what / where is Yucca Mountain and what are we going to use it for? Solar – describe where in the US solar best can (or is) be used (map is needed). You can also do the world if you want Biomass / Biofuels – explain how using biofuels is carbon neutral.
