April 10, Hearing His Voice

Should we expect to have the Holy Spirit to guide and speak to us?  One of His jobs  John 14:26 - But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you.  Identification of belonging to God:  Romans 8:14 - For those who are led by the Spirit of God are the children of God.

Does God speak to you?  Many believers say “God doesn’t speak to me.”  I think he does:  Have you ever had something that you read in the Bible just speak to you in a new or powerful way?  Have you ever been convicted that what you did was wrong?  Have you ever felt you were supposed to speak to someone or give to/help someone?  We just need to tune our ears and be aware of his voice

Ask the Holy Spirit to Speak To You  You do not have, because you do not ask. James 4:2  Ask for more of the Holy Spirit  If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will the heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!” – Luke 11:13  Ask God to speak to you each time you read the Bible (he speaks through his Spirit to our spirit – Romans 8:16)

Read the Bible Daily  The Bible is the way that God speaks the most  You get used to knowing what God’s voice sounds like  John 10:4 - When he has brought out all his own, he goes before them, and the sheep follow him, for they know his voice  You are able to test what is from God and what isn’t  1 John 4:1 - Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God

Listen for God’s Voice  We are often busy talking and asking not often listening  Listen as you read  Listen as/after you pray

Test what you hear  Test the spirits - 1 John 4:1 - Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God  Check against Scripture  Ask spiritual leaders, others who hear from God

Act  Obey God’s voice  Do what he said to do  If we don’t, he’ll stop speaking
