Texas new state.President James K. Polk sent troops into Texas to protect the new state.

4,000 U.S. troops in Corpus Christi

Henry ClayU.S. senator Henry Clay resolves conflict; the compromise = U.S. gov’t would give TX $10 million for the territory. TX was in debt & needed the money so they agreed.
