5 th Grade Safety Patrol Oaks Elementary

What is Safety Patrol? An opportunity for 5 th grade students to help teachers and students everyday A chance to take on more responsibility A time to work with new people and make new friends An opportunity to wear that orange vest and name badge.

What Kinds of Jobs Can Safeties Do? Outside jobs – Open doors for car riders – Monitor the hallways – Help Pre K students in the am – Flag raising and lowering – Door Holders – Walking younger students to their classes

What Kinds of Jobs Can Safeties Do? Inside Jobs – Helping with gym set up – Helping teachers in their classrooms – Hall Monitor – Helping with Pre K students – Helping in the Cafeteria

Can Anyone be a Safety? No Only 5 th grade students are eligible – Must have NO discipline referrals. – Must pass all classes and have conduct of E or S – Must be responsible and able to work without adult supervision – Must be on time each day for duty.

Can I Get The Job I Want? Sometimes Students always get to chance to do all jobs throughout then year.

Will I Get to Wear a uniform? Yes You will wear an orange vest. You will wear a name badge. When it is cold you will wear your vest over your jacket.

Why Do We Have Safeties? Safeties help the school run smoothly Safeties help to keep younger students safe Safeties CANNOT punish or threaten other students. – Safeties cannot put their hands on another child – If there is a problem with a student, get a teacher right away.

So How Do I Keep my Job? Keep up your grades Follow the rules Be on time Do what is expected of you at all times Treat others with respect
