Brighton city Food and drinks Christmas habits Working in a hotel

Brighton is a British city in the East of Sussex, in the south of England, on the seafront. Brighton is very popular, one hour from London and with its beaches and sea front activities, It attracts many young people.

Brighton is famous for many monuments like the Brighton Pier with its permanent funfair, restaurants and gaming room, the Royal Pavilion which was the residence of Prince George IV, with its Indian architecture. During Christmas time a icerink was instal behind the Pavilion. There is of course, also the Brighton Wheel on the beach, The West Pier was like Brighton Pier but in 2003 it burned in a fire. The Brighton Clocktower was build for the Jubilee of the Queen Victoria

Finally the Lane and North Laine, two different districts but so close. The Lane is a collection of narrow lanes, in the city of Brighton famous for their small shops (including several antique shops) and narrow alleyways. The North Laine is a shopping and residential district of Brighton. Once a slum area, nowadays with its many pubs and cafés, theatres and museums, it is seen as Brighton's bohemian and cultural quarter.

In Brighton and elsewhere, lots of people eat in Pubs or in restaurants. The most famous dish is the Fish and Chips. It consists of battered haddock fish, and chips. It is also a common take-away food. You can also find many different pies and because Brighton is in front of the sea there is a variety of seafood. Moreover, all Pubs in Brighton make an «Happy Hour », it's a period during all dinks are on half price. Nice idea ! During Christmas time, many bakeries make cakes on the theme of Christmas. Christmas Cakes! They are so wonderful and so delicious !!!

During Christmas time, many decorations are installed to make Brighton City more beautiful !

During my work placement at the Mercure Seafront Brighton Hotel, I was a waitress. During Christmas time many people celebrate Christmas here, these parties are organised by the hotel with a special menu, a DY, and of course crackers.. When they have finish to eat, «All I want for Christmas is you » is played and all people go dancing. I didn't do the hotel work or at the kitchens, I was only waitress and worked in the dining room. I worked 4 hours in the morning and 4 hours in the evening, and between I slept, I visited Brighton and I went to London for 2 days it was really cool !
