Election and Term of Office (House) Every two years voters elect their member of the House of Representatives. Every member of the House of Representatives serves a two year term.

Election and Term of Office (Continued) The Constitution does not limit the number of terms that a representative may serve.

Qualifications (House) To serve in the House of Representatives the following qualifications must be met: 1.Must be at least 25 years of age 2.Must be a citizen of the United States for at least 7 years 3.Must be a resident of the state that he/she represents

Members of the House of Representatives The number of members of the House of Representatives is fixed at 435. It has been set at 435 since Congress made this law in The number of Congressional Representatives that a state has is based upon its population as determined by census. The census is taken every ten years.

Members of the House of Representatives Continued As of the 2000 census, the average population per Congressional district is 646, 946. California has the most members of the House of Representatives (53).
