Operation Issues 1.E-cool Front-end stopped working early Sunday morning. Ops tried to soft-reboot, but it did not work. Then, R:SF6FLO was in alarm, E-cool current went to 0 On-call(Mary), Mechanical personnel(Rich Neswold and Karl Williams) were contacted An access to MI-31 was made to investigate SF6 Blower, and a local on was given to the Blower control E-cool FE was rebooted again and the communication was established Ops also made energy match after restoring the Pelletron This delayed Pbar transfers and Tev Shot for several hours. 2. AC unit in MI-31(North) was not repaired on time during last on-day shutdown due to miscommunication. It was done yesterday, and AC unit works fine now.

3. E-cool solenoids temperatures came into Alarm due to LCW water temper increase. It usually happened between 8PM and Midnight Each solenoid has a nominal and tolerance for analog alarms. The tolerances are uniformly set to Deg C. The nominals vary from to Deg. Paul did analysis and found that the mean value of the temperatures is between 0.6 and 1.5 deg C above the nominal since July 1st. Looking at temperature vs I:30WT01, there is a strong correlation with slope 0.5 deg C / deg F (yes, they are in different units). The alarm on I:30WT01 is at 105 deg F, at which point the MI is adjusted to lower the total power -- it is limited by power supply performance. If we change the nominal of the solenoid temperatures to 40 deg C then the alarms on the solenoid temperatures and alarms on water temperatures will be almost in sync. This still keeps the alarm temperatures at 45 deg C. Sasha decided that set the nominal of R:TCC70 to 41 o C, R:TCC80 to 42 o C and the rest of thsolenoids to 40 o C to be in sync with the water temper.

Studies this week  RR DCCT calibrated. There was a read back 1.2E10 with no beam. Then the off-set was changed from -1.7 to -2.9E10  Adjusted chromaticity from -5 to -3.5 in horizontal plane, and tuned the skew quads to reduce the coupling after lowering the chromaticity(Stan). (Sasha) Comparison of the average life time between the last transfer and extraction for the last 3 shots (magenta) and June 2008 data (blue). So far, there is no dramatic improvement after decreasing chromaticity(Sasha made). (Stan) …. it is mildly encouraging in that it clearly doesn't look worse and the average might be somewhat better. The typical lifetime during building the stash also looks as good or slightly better than before to me.

Requests Studies Cooling rate measurement Drag rate measurements Remind: There would be a 5-days Shutdown in October(the date is not yet finally determined, but it might be started from Oct.8. Please go to fill the request for any work to be done in tunnel under controlled access.
